Real-life. “After losing my stepdad, his own son suddenly appeared out of nowhere”: Stepdad's decision surprised him

After my own father died, I categorically refused to acknowledge my mother's new husband as my father.

My mother's new husband wasn't such a bad person after all. When he saw me crying in my room, he didn't hesitate, he sat down next to me, told me some stories from his childhood and it turned out that he, too, grew up without a father and understood me perfectly.

My stepfather helped me during a difficult time for me and it was not an isolated incident, in the future he also helped me many times, supported me in all my endeavors. He did everything in his power to make this or that task easier for me, and I really appreciated it and will always appreciate it.

Unfortunately, even then our life was not rosy and soon my stepfather passed away and although I never considered him a father, he was a good man and we have only good memories of him. But then, out of nowhere, his son showed up…his own son.

He had lived with his mother all this time, but as soon as his father died, they remembered him, or rather, they remembered his inheritance, which the boy had said would go to him. And that would have been the case if not for the will his stepfather had left.

He left his entire fortune to me and my mother, which enraged the prodigal son, but there was nothing he could do. You know, it wasn’t the will that played a role in our relationship with my stepfather, because while he was alive, my mother and I had no idea and never thought about it.

But by leaving everything he earned during his lifetime to my mother and me, basically strangers, my stepfather proved once again that he treated us with sincere love, without any benefits.
