Xiaomi plans to introduce its first proprietary processor, manufactured using the 3nm process technology, in 2025. However, this project faces the problem of dependence on 5G modem suppliers.
Qualcomm, a leader in the modem industry, may refuse to sell its products to Xiaomi or set a price that is too high. As a result, Xiaomi's own chip could partially displace Qualcomm from the smartphone processor market.
An alternative is Samsung, which already supplies modems to other manufacturers. However, political sanctions could make cooperation with Samsung more difficult.
Despite the limitations of its technology and the low energy efficiency of its chips, Huawei could become a partner for Xiaomi thanks to existing agreements.
