Prominent investigator says Vladimir Putin ordered his assassination

Investigative journalist Khristo Grozev stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally gave the order to kidnap and kill him, he told about this in an interview with the YouTube channel “Kotrikadze Dzyadko”.

“The plans were terrible, not just plans for surveillance, but at least kidnapping and taking him to Moscow. And at most – a terrible death, because they (the defendants in the espionage case, which is being heard in a London court – ed.) invented terrible forms of death. The only thing that is new for “I, reading from the materials provided by the English newspapers, – this is what has already been proven that all this was on the orders of Putin himself, and not a conventional general of the FSB or GRU,” – said Grozev.

According to him, the order was given on December 14, 2020, on the day the investigation into the poisoning of Alexei Navalny with the nerve agent “Novichok” was made public.

Currently, the Central Criminal Court in London is considering a case against Bulgarian citizens accused of spying for Russia.

From the materials of this case, it became known that the former COO of the financial startup Wirecard, Jan Marsalek, and Bulgarian citizen Orlin Rusev, who are suspected of having ties to Russian special services, planned the kidnapping and murder of Grozev.

In court, prosecutors told to the jury that in 2021 Marsalek and Rusev discussed various options for action in correspondence: stealing the journalist's laptop and phone, handing them over to the Russian embassy, setting fire to his property, kidnapping him to Moscow, and even physically eliminating him.
