Pro-Russian hackers from the NoName group attacked the websites of several French cities and at least one department on Tuesday, calling it «revenge for France's support for Ukraine».
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by France24.
As of 6 p.m. Kyiv time, the websites of the cities of Marseille and Tarbes, as well as the website of the Haute-Garonne department, remained inaccessible.
A group of hackers called NoName, which is already known for other similar attacks and the spread of Russian viewpoints, claimed responsibility for the attacks on the X social network.
In their account, the hackers claimed that they had also attacked the websites of cities such as Nantes, Bordeaux, Pau, Nimes, Nice, Angers, Le Havre and Montpellier, as well as the departments of Le Land, French Polynesia and New Caledonia.
The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, confirmed that the city's website had been targeted by hackers.
DDoS attacks are often used by NoName to overload sites with a huge number of automated requests, making them inoperable.
Typically, attacks do not involve data theft.
