Presidential elections 2025. Szymon Hołownia revealed the probable date

Next year, Poles will elect Andrzej Duda's successor. Szymon Hołownia has announced the date when the presidential elections will be held.

As the “Super Express” portal reminds us, in 2025, Poles will elect a new president. The race for the Presidential Palace will include Szymon Hołownia, the leader of Poland 2050 and the Marshal of the Sejm. The politician has already announced that he will not give up holding the marshal's staff during the campaign. He also revealed the probable date of the presidential election. When will Poles go to the polls again?

Szymon Hołownia on next year's elections

In the spring of 2025, Poles will have the opportunity to choose a successor to Andrzej Duda, who will be finishing his second term next year and cannot seek re-election. Szymon Hołownia, Speaker of the Sejm and candidate in next year's elections, indicated possible voting dates in an interview with “Rzeczpospolita”.

Hołownia does not rule out that the elections will be held in May, although the following Sundays in May are also being considered: 11, 18 and 25. All of them fall within the constitutional deadline for holding the first round. The second will take place two weeks after the first.

The race for the office of president will include not only the aforementioned Speaker of the Sejm, but also Rafał Trzaskowski, Karol Nawrocki, Sławomir Mentzen and Marek Jakubiak. The Left still has to choose a candidate.

Szymon Hołownia will not resign from his position

In an interview with “Rzeczpospolita”, Szymon Hołownia revealed that he did not intends to resign from the position of Marshal of the Sejm during the campaign. As he emphasized, when the incumbent president runs for re-election, he does not resign from his office during the campaign.

He also noted that in the past, marshals and vice-marshals running in the elections did not decide to do so either. “I will not resign from the position of Marshal of the Sejm, which is a political position, unlike, for example, the head of the Institute of National Remembrance, who is expected to be apolitical. Karol Nawrocki should resign from his position,” Hołownia stated.

Poland Leader 2050 noted that in November next year, in accordance with the coalition agreement, he will cease to be the Marshal of the Sejm. This position will go to Włodzimierz Czarzasty from the Left. “If I win the presidential election, these matters will of course have to be arranged differently,” Hołownia added.
