Polish Border Guard receives two more L-410 aircraft

Two new L-410 aircraft for the border guard have arrived in Poland.

The Polish publication Hellduck Media published photos of the new aircraft on Facebook.

Two new L-410 UVP-E20 aircraft arrived directly from the factory at Gdansk Airport.

The planes have not yet been officially accepted by the Polish border guards. First, they need to be adapted to work.

Also in 2020, two L-410 aircraft arrived in Poland for the border service under a 2019 contract.

Then the two aircraft cost PLN 109.8 million, which is about $28 million.

The L-410UVP-E20 turboprop aircraft is equipped with a radar station for detecting and identifying objects on the surface of water and land, an optoelectronic station with a detection range of up to 15 km.

In addition, the aircraft are equipped with satellite communications and various rescue equipment.

The basic turboprop aircraft Let L-410 Turbolet was developed in the 1960s by the Czechoslovak company Let Kunovice. The first prototype flew on April 16, 1969.

The aircraft was subsequently upgraded several times depending on the needs of the market or a specific customer. The L-410UVP-E20 version, ordered by the Polish Border Guard Service, can be equipped with two types of engines – Walter M601E or GE H80-200.

An incident occurred with this aircraft in 2023. Last year, a Russian Su-35 fighter jet attempted to intercept a Polish Border Guard L410 TURBOLET aircraft participating in the MMO Western Black Sea 2023 mission.
