Poland tests first tactical radio station of its own design

WB Group has completed qualification tests of the first Polish PERAD personal radio station with a cryptographic encryption module.

The news was published on the company's website.

This month, the head of the Polish Armaments Agency, Brigadier General Artur Kuptel, approved the successful completion of qualification tests of this radio station.

PERAD – is the first broadband personal radio in the history of Polish military communications with a cryptographic module of domestic development. The device itself, as well as accessories, including antennas, power supplies, microphones and headsets, car amplifiers, single and multi-station chargers, have successfully passed qualification tests.

In May of this year, it also received a Cryptographic Protection Certificate from the Polish Military Counterintelligence Service, which opened the possibility of its use for processing restricted information.

PERAD was requested by the Polish Armed Forces, which needed advanced broadband communications for soldiers on the battlefield. The personal radio station is designed for communication in difficult conditions, in particular, active countermeasures with electronic warfare means.

In fact, it is a software-defined radio (SDR, Software Defined Radio), which provides data transmission based on the IP protocol, including video and photos, and also provides voice communication.

The radio station can create a self-organized communication network consisting of several devices (MANET) and operate in a full-fledged multi-user conference mode.

It is characterized by a low spectral density of the signal with pseudo-random reconfiguration of the operating frequency (PPRF), as well as built-in cryptographic algorithms.

The developers focus on the low power consumption of the radio station and “intelligent energy management”, which makes it difficult to detect a working device and allows it to be used in power-saving mode for “many days”.

PERAD also allows you to increase the communication range and its coverage in difficult terrain (forest, mountains, cities)  using repeaters based on unmanned aerial systems. WB Group has the corresponding solutions based on the well-known drones FlyEye.
