Pensions are going up. What kind of increases can seniors expect?

How much will pensions of Polish seniors increase in March 2025?

As reported by the “Goniec” portal, next year the minimum pension of Poles may be higher by PLN 94 net. This is indicated by calculations by Łukasz Kozłowski, chief economist of the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs. In his opinion, next year's indexation of benefits will amount to 5.83%. However, these are still only forecasts, because the final indexation rate will be known at the beginning of 2025.

Pension indexation 2025. How much will it be?

Poles' pension benefits are subject to annual indexation. Higher benefits are paid out every year in March. This year, its rate was 12.12%. This increased pensions from PLN 1,588.44 gross to PLN 1,780.96 gross. There are many indications that the increase in 2025 will not be as large.

“I assumed that the inflation rate in the households of retirees and pensioners would amount to 4.0 percent, and the real growth rate of the average salary in the national economy would amount to 9.16 percent – which gives us an indexation rate of 5.83 percent.” – said Łukasz Kozłowski in an interview with tvn24.

The indexation rate at this level means that senior benefits will increase by PLN 94.53 net per month in March 2025.

How much will the lowest pension be in 2025?

Assuming that the pension rate will actually be 5.83%, the lowest pension would increase from the current PLN 1,780.96 gross to PLN 1,884.83 gross. Seniors would therefore receive not PLN 1,620.67 net, as is the case now, but PLN 1,715.20 net.

The “Interia” portal reminds that already in July next year “widows and widowers will gain new opportunities to combine retirement benefits and family pensions”. The adopted amendment to the regulations assumes that a senior citizen will be able to collect 100% of his or her pension and an additional 15% of the survivor's pension.

In the second variant, a widower or widower may collect 100% of the survivor's pension or 15%. own pension.
