Owners of iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro smartphones complain about rapid battery discharge

Some iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro users are experiencing very rapid battery drain, according to complaints on Reddit , Apple Support communities, and the MacRumors forums. Many reports come from iPhone 16 users, but older iPhones running iOS 18 are also experiencing issues.

With Apple claiming longer battery life for the iPhone 16, I was excited to find out how much more battery life I would get. Respond? I now have half the time between charges compared to my one year old 15 Pro Max. Really disappointing. All the settings are the same, including globally disabled background refresh, a maximum screen refresh rate of 60Hz, and data blocking on 4G. The 16 Pro has terrible standby battery life while sleeping (it's not connected to my Apple Watch). He does background work like crazy. But guess what, I turned off AOD (which shouldn't be when in sleep mode it's off anyway) and turned on frame-limiting in special features (not in low power mode) to disable ProMotion, boom, the background randomness is gone! Obviously, something is wrong on Apple's end. Battery drain in standby mode is excessive. This morning I unplugged my phone at 9am and it stayed at 95% (my charge limit) for only 20 minutes before it started dropping rapidly. Every five minutes I was losing percentage until I finally picked it up to use it. It seems to have stabilized a bit now, but I'm really puzzled by this behavior. kirbysmartdawg
