OpenAI “killed” Google. ChatGPT Search is now available to everyone: update details

In October, OpenAI launched its own search engine integrated into ChatGPT. Initially, this feature was only available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers, but now OpenAI is making ChatGPT Search available to everyone, including free users.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine (Styler project) with reference to the American website about computer technology The Verge.

Update details

OpenAI announced this news as part of the “12 Days of Shipmas” broadcast, and also presented “optimized” version of the function for mobile devices and the ability to search in advanced voice control mode.

ChatGPT's search engine was initially launched for paid subscribers in October. It will now be available in a free version, although you will need an account and login to use it.

One of the improvements in the mobile version makes ChatGPT more like a traditional search engine. For example, when searching for a specific location, such as restaurants or local attractions, ChatGPT displays a list of results with images, ratings, and opening hours. By clicking on a place, you can get more information and view a map with directions right in the app.

Another new feature speeds up searches for certain sites, such as “hotel booking sites.” Instead of instantly generating an answer, ChatGPT first shows links to relevant websites, and then provides detailed information on each option.

In addition, in Advanced Voice Mode (available only to paid users), ChatGPT can automatically provide relevant information from the Internet.

Earlier during the broadcasts, OpenAI also announced the launch of the Sora text-visual model and introduced a ChatGPT Pro subscription worth $200 per month.
