One-Punch Man: Yusuke Murata confirms season 3 release window

A few weeks ago, we shared with you this statement from Yusuke Murata who had finally spoken out following the hiatus of the manga One-Punch Man. And while many are waiting for the sequel to its animated adaptation, the famous Japanese cartoonist recently relayed a publication suggesting that season 3 could be released soon. We tell you everything.

Finally some news on Saitama's return in season 3 of One-Punch Man?

While shonens remain one of the most popular genres among manga and anime fans, many seinen have managed to carve out a special place in the hearts of the public. We will think in particular of Berserk by Kentaro Miura, but also of Vinland Saga by Makoto Yukimura, without forgetting of course One-Punch Man.

Launched in 2009 by ONE as a web series, it was in 2012 that the work would be entitled to its adaptation into a manga drawn by Yusuke Murata, known among others for his work on Eyeshield 21. And if the manga has gained popularity, it is also thanks to its adaptation into an anime, with a first season released in 2015.

Having been won over by the incredible quality of the work offered by the Madhouse studio in season 1, many fans were therefore impatient to discover the continuation of the adventures of the now famous Saitama on the small screen. But it was not until 2019 that fans were able to witness the return of the superhero in season 2, this time directed by the studio J.C. Staff.

And while the wait for season 3 seems endless, fans have recently been able to have news of the project, but in a way that was unexpected to say the least. Indeed, it was on X/Twitter that some noticed that Murata had reposted a post suggesting that One-Punch Man season 3 would be scheduled for 2025.

But as Anime Tsumi points out in response to its post, “this information cannot be confirmed and should only be considered a rumor at this time, pending an official announcement.” That's why this news should be taken with a grain of salt. Also note that Murata had previously announced that he would not be involved in the production of the anime's third season.

As a reminder, season 3 of One-Punch Man was officially confirmed in August 2022. While rumors suggested that MAPPA could take over the reins of the project, we learned last February that it was indeed J.C. Staff who would be back for the new season.
