When Toei Animation announced that the One Piece anime was taking a hiatus until April 2025, fans were upset. They'll have to wait several monthsbefore discovering the continuation of the adventures of the Straw Hat crew on Egghead Island, after a fast-paced episode 1122. In the meantime, the series will offer its audience a modernized version of the Fish-Man Island arc, broadcast more than ten years ago. On October 27, this Sunday, when it comes to winter time, the first episode will be broadcast.

This new version condenses the original 57 episodes into 21 episodes, while of course following the plot of the anime as fans know it. The Straw Hat Pirates reunite on Sabaody after spending a few years training, before the journey to the Grand Line takes them 10,000 meters under the sea. Featuring new visuals and Dolby sound, this modernized version of One Piece aims, according to Toei Animation, to bring the filters and visual effects of this arc in line with the latest ones. Thanks to the teaser above, you can get a first glimpse of the result. If you prefer the old version, it is available for streaming on Hulu as well as on Crunchyroll.

And you, what do you think of this modernized version? Should Toei apply it to all Arcs?
