On December 25, a plane fell from the sky. Initial findings in this case are not optimistic

Today, December 25, there was a plane crash in Kazakhstan.

The AZAL plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed after a bird strike. According to preliminary data, the incident occurred at around 09:30 Moscow time over the eastern part of the Caspian Sea. Due to on-board faults, the crew decided to make an emergency landing at the alternate airport in Aktau.

At the time of the crash, there were 67 passengers and 5 crew members on board. Unfortunately, not everyone managed to escape.

Initial reports are not optimistic

They indicate that 25 people survived. Of these, 22 were hospitalized at the Mangistau Regional Hospital. Among the survivors is a child. The injured were provided with all necessary medical care. Foreign media reported that the cause of the accident was a collision between the plane and birds.

This caused damage to the plane, and as a result, a critical situation during the flight. The plane's commander decided to immediately change the route and attempt to land at the nearest airport.

According to the available recordings, the pilots fought to control the plane until the very end. Thanks to their heroic actions, an even greater tragedy was avoided – the plane bypassed a densely built-up area, which prevented a crash in a residential area. It is clear that the pilots tried to minimize the consequences of the accident, doing everything to minimize the number of casualties. Their determination and skills probably saved many lives.

Kazakh rescuers quickly organized a search and rescue operation at the crash site. Currently, the Kazakh authorities, together with representatives of the aviation authorities of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, have launched an investigation into the incident.

Representatives of Rosaviatsia are also cooperating with AZAL to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
