North Korea launched a ballistic missile for the first time in 2025, which traveled more than 1,100 km to the east before falling into the sea, Yonhap and Reuters write. This happened during the visit of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to South Korea.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said the missile was launched at around 12:00 local time from the Pyongyang area, flying over 1,100 km.
It is believed that such a missile could theoretically reach the US military bases in Guam, located approximately 3,400 km from Pyongyang, if it is fired at its maximum range.
“Today's launch – is a reminder of how important our work together is,” – said Blinken, addressing the South Koreans.
