No heat due to cyber incident. In Poltava, 14 boiler houses in the city stopped for almost half a day

This morning, in many neighborhoods of Poltava woke up without heat, in the heat supply disappeared. As reported in the municipal enterprise «Poltavateploenergo», this happened due to a cyber incident. Communication was lost with the dispatch service of all 56 automated boiler houses. 14 boilers of the city stopped. Whether heat supply was restored to consumers — see in the story.

In the yard minus 10 — in settlements cold batteries. On the morning of February 11 in several neighborhoods of Poltava in apartment buildings, the heating was turned off. There was no heat in the 109th neighborhood as well. According to locals, the heat supply was restored in a few hours.

Lidiya, Poltava: The neighbors told me, but I slept through it all. It didn't last long.

Sergiy, Poltava: I was in the kitchen, I was making coffee, I leaned against the radiator, it was like this, warm. And then the woman got up, later, an hour later, around half past seven, they started drowning, you could hear it.

On the morning of February 11, the company suffered a cyber incident, the municipal enterprise Poltavateploenergo reported. The result was a loss of communication with the dispatch service of all 56 automated boiler rooms and a complete shutdown of 14 boiler rooms. This led to stopping the heat supply to homes of Poltava residents, — says the first deputy general director of «Poltavateploenergo» Igor Protsay. He adds: all automated boiler rooms had to be turned on manually.

Igor Protsay, first deputy general director of POKVPTG «Poltavateploenergo»: Emergency crews were created, which made a systematic detour of’all boiler rooms that operated in automated mode and started all boiler rooms, respectively, without automation. Currently, an assessment of the damage caused and restoration is underway so that we can continue to work. We all understand that this may not be the last impact on the critical infrastructure facility.

As of 12 noon, all boiler houses in Poltava were operational, and heat supply was restored. Consumers were without heat for several hours.
