NMT-2025 will be reformed: tests on the history of Ukraine will be different

National multi-subject test (NMT) on the history of Ukraine is planned to be expanded in 2025. In particular, tasks from the history of Russia-Ukraine will appear in the test.

The Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, announced the innovation during question time to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukrinform reports.

According to the new rules, up to 10% of the test tasks on the history of Ukraine will be devoted to the period of Russia-Ukraine. The Minister noted that this decision was agreed with the Ukrainian Center for Evaluation of the Quality of Education, and noted that the changes will not lead to an increase in the total number of tasks or the time allocated for their completion.

With the Ukrainian Center for the Evaluation of the Quality of Education, we worked out this position: up to 10 percent of history tests will be added specifically from the period of the history of Russia-Ukraine, Lisovyi said.

Lisovy also said that the purpose of these innovations is improving the quality of education and giving students the opportunity to better understand the important stages of Ukrainian history. In particular, the inclusion of the history of Russia-Ukraine should help form national identity and expand youth knowledge about the cultural and historical roots of Ukraine.

National multi-subject test (NMT) – online testing for admission to the first course of higher education institutions of Ukraine. Graduates are tested in two compulsory subjects and one optional subject. NMT was introduced in 2022 due to the war in Ukraine as an alternative to extracurriculars.

During the testing on the history of Ukraine in 2024, the knowledge of the entrants was tested for the chronological period from the 16th century to modern events.
