Nintendo: the company is preparing a surprise for GameCube fans

This is something that Nintendo Switch Online subscribers have been waiting for a long time and which some of them believe is about to happen soon. Indeed, the Japanese firm would have teased in a promotional email.

Nintendo is preparing a surprise alongside the release of the Switch 2

While everyone has their eyes fixed on the Nintendo Switch 2 in the hope of discovering the date on which it will be presented to the publicand especially to see what this new console from the Japanese company will offer, we suggest you take an interest in Nintendo Switch Online.

This set of features of the Nintendo Switch appeared in its first version in September 2018. For a subscription, players can enjoy online multiplayer mode, cloud saving, voice chat and access to a library of video gamesNES, Super Nintendo and Game Boy. In October 2021, Nintendo is offering the Nintendo Switch Online + Additional Pack subscription, giving its 36 million subscribers the opportunity to access Nintendo 64, Mega Drive and Game Boy Advance games by paying double the price.

200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000

So, after the addition of titles playable on the Nintendo 64, many subscribers were wondering if they would one day have the chance to see GameCube games arrive in Nintendo Switch Online. Indeed, it seems quite natural that the games of this console released in 2002 in Europe, which was in competition with the PlayStation 2, the Xbox and the Dreamcast, should be offered on Nintendo's online service. The question is when.

The arrival of GameCube games in Nintendo Switch Online?

But the release of the new version of the Switch complicates things a little. While it is expected for next year and according to the many rumors circulating about it, The Switch 2 would be a successor to the Switch. Which implies that Nintendo Switch Online would remain as is. However, there would be no better time to integrate GameCube games right at the time of the release of the new console. Imagine that an email from the company could be interpreted in this way.

For the third anniversary of the service, subscribers received an email in which Nintendo wrote “What excitement will next year bring to Nintendo Switch + Expansion Pack members? Stay tuned to find out“.

Now it remains to to know if this is indeed the addition of GameCube games and if so, it's a safe bet that you'll have to upgrade to the formula with the additional pack to enjoy it. On the other hand one thing is certain, Nintendo Switch Online will continue in 2025.
