New York held a parade of dogs in funny Halloween costumes

Recently, the 34th Halloween Dog Parade was held in New York. Thousands of costumed visitors and their pets gathered in East Village Park.

This year's festival has become the largest in the entire history of the event.

History of the festival

The first walk with pets was held in 1990, after the reconstruction of Tompkins Square Park. According to the organizers of the festival, the founders wanted to create a safe place for walking with dogs amidst the hectic life of New York.

Per the Parks Department's caveat, the festival was to be funded by the community, not the city. The dog owners who fought so hard to make the event for pets a reality found funds and volunteers.

Since then, the park has become a place for the annual parade of costumed dogs. The event becomes an opportunity for owners of four-legged show imagination and creativity: someone chooses a stylish look for the whole family, and someone sews a fantastic furry costume with their own hands.
