New anti-drone system steals UAV data

Rohde & Schwarz has developed the Ardronis Wi-Fi system, which provides effective neutralization of drones by penetrating their electronic systems, intercepting control and blocking communication with the controller without interfering with the operation of other devices nearby.

The main problem with modern drones is their ability to fly in areas that are dangerous for aviation. According to data from the United States, more than 100 such incidents are recorded every month, ranging from hooliganism to deliberate violations. Traditional countermeasures, such as the use of lasers, nets or even birds of prey, focus on physically destroying the device. Ardronis Wi-Fi offers a fundamentally new approach: instead of destroying it, the system interacts with the electronics of the drone, monitors its activity and blocks operations.

The system takes advantage of the advantages of controlling drones via Wi-Fi. Ardronis is able to detect drones, determine their location even before takeoff and access video streams or drone data. In addition, the system can decode the remote drone identifier, providing detailed information about speed, altitude and other parameters. This allows not only to prevent threats, but also to use the obtained data for further analysis.

One of the key advantages of Ardronis is its pinpoint action. The system is able to break the connection between a single drone and its operator without interfering with the operation of other devices in the area. As noted by the company's vice president Anne Stefan, “Ardronis Wi-Fi offers an intuitive tool for security and surveillance that meets modern challenges”.

The introduction of such technologies can significantly change approaches to security in civil and military aviation, offering an effective and environmentally neutral method of controlling unauthorized drone flights.
