Mobile communications and the Internet: how operator tariffs differ in different countries of the world

The mobile communications market in 2024 is characterized by differences in the cost of services between countries and regions. The average global price for 1 GB of mobile Internet is $2.59.

Israel demonstrates record low figures – only $0.02 per 1 GB of data, making it the absolute leader in mobile Internet availability. Developed infrastructure and mass distribution of smartphones allow local operators to offer customers significant amounts of traffic at minimal prices.

Italy is in second place with an indicator of $0.12 per gigabyte. Ukraine is among the twenty countries with the most affordable mobile Internet, with an indicator of $0.27 per 1 GB.

The European mobile communications market is characterized by a balanced approach to pricing, with residents of the region spending an average of 1.37% of their income on communication services, which is the lowest in the world.

The highest prices for mobile Internet are recorded in North America – an average of $4.98 per 1 GB.

5G technology continues to develop actively. China is the leader in the deployment of fifth-generation networks with almost 850 million users.

The virtual network operator market is showing annual growth of 10.1%. Its volume will reach $91.73 billion in 2024.

By 2027, 5G is expected to become the dominant technology, surpassing 4G in terms of connections. Operators' investments in the development of 5G infrastructure will amount to about 600 billion dollars.

In parallel, the development of 6G technologies begins, which promise a hundredfold increase in data transfer speed compared to 5G.

Recall that operators Vodafone and Kyivstar are increasing the cost of their tariff plans, but offering additional services for users.

Operator lifecell is launching a special “STOP PRICE” promotion, which allows new subscribers to receive a fixed price for tariffs until the end of 2025.

Special offers have also been developed for pensioners and students.

Kyivstar and Vodafone subscribers are actively switching to the lifecell network, keeping their numbers through the MNP service.
