Man stole 280,000 hryvnias from military card: faces 15 years in prison

A 40-year-old serviceman lost his mobile phone, but did not immediately block the SIM card. The attacker found the card and inserted it into his gadget. After that, he used SMS to restore the login password to the bank's mobile application.

The police were informed about this.

So, having gained access to the victim's bank accounts, the defendant transferred money to his own and other people's accounts, which he then withdrew from ATMs in the regional center. Thus, he appropriated about 280,000 hryvnias.

Based on the collected evidence, investigators under the procedural guidance of the Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office reported the offender on suspicion of committing crimes under Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft), Part 1 of Article 209 (Legalization (laundering) of property obtained by crime), Part 5 of Article 361 (Unauthorized interference in the operation of information (automated), electronic communication, information and communication systems, electronic communication networks) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The perpetrator faces up to 15 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to 3 years.
