Man convicted of handing over Kharkiv air defense system to Russians

A hostile informant from Kharkiv who tracked down mobile air defense fire groups on behalf of the Russians has been sentenced.

The 57-year-old man was a supporter of racism and began working for the Russians in April 2024. In pro-Russian Telegram channels, he published anti-Ukrainian comments and tried to “merge” the deployment points and routes of mobile air defense fire groups defending Kharkiv.

“To identify “targets”, the attacker regularly walked around the city, where under the guise of walks he secretly observed the locations of the Defense Forces. The enemy informant used a specially purchased monocular with a high zoom ratio and a mini-video camera. At home, he transferred the information he received to Google Maps and selected video files for a “report” to the occupiers. The Russians needed the intelligence to prepare new series of rocket and bomb strikes on Kharkiv,” said Vladislav Abdula, spokesman for the Kharkiv Region's USBU.

In May, an accomplice of the Russians was detained in his own apartment, and his mobile phone, video camera, and flash drives with evidence of his criminal activity were seized from him. activities.

The man pleaded guilty in court. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
