Man arrested in Japan for selling modified Nintendo Switch

A 58-year-old Japanese citizen was arrested for selling modified Nintendo Switch. Japanese media say this is the first such precedent in history.

This is reported by the Automaton publication with reference to the Japanese media NTV News. It is reported that a resident of Kochi Prefecture soldered modified components to the Nintendo Switch motherboard, and then sold the console for almost half the market price, 28 thousand yen, or about $ 180 instead of $ 300.

The consoles were specially prepared for flashing and running unlicensed games. Along with the Switch itself, the craftsman also sold a set of 27 pirated games.

Police report that the man pleaded guilty and is currently under investigation, and an investigation into other possible violations is also underway. During his detention, 4 Nintendo Switches were seized.
