Lord of the Rings: after Ian McKellen, this actor wants to return to the saga

A few days ago, Ian McKellen revealed his enthusiasm at the idea of returning to the Lord of the Rings saga. Today, we learned that another actor wants to return to Middle-earth.

The Lord of the Rings: a new return expected?

It has been announced: Warner Bros. Discovery is indeed planning to exploit the Lord of the Rings license. While Amazon Prime Video is currently streaming episodes of season 2 of the series The Rings of Power, the Hollywood major recently revealed the first trailer for the animated film The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim, which will take place approximately 200 years before the events of Peter Jackson's trilogy. Earlier this year, we learned that two other feature films were in the works, produced by the New Zealand director, including The Hunt for Gollum, directed by Andy Serkis, the character's historical interpreter.

This film naturally crystallizes many expectations; the press and fans are wondering about the characters likely to make their return in this feature film. The English actor Ian McKellen, aged 85, and known for having played Gandalf on the screen, recently affirmed that he was still enthusiastic about the idea of returning to Middle-earth, despite his recent injury during a theatrical performance. As for Viggo Mortensen, whose portrayal of Aragorn continues to impress millions of spectators, he gave the only condition on which he would agree to return to the saga The Lord of the Rings.

In the columns of Variety, actor Orlando Bloom, who played the role of the elf Legolas in The Lord of the Rings and the last two parts of the The Hobbit trilogy, also expressed his desire to return to the most famous fantasy universe in the world: “Oh, man, these things are amazing. Yeah. I don't know how they would do it. I guess with AI you can do anything these days. But, if Peter Jackson asks me to jump, I'm like, “How high?” I mean, it's because of him that started my career.”

As you will have understood, Orlando Bloom's blind trust in the Oscar-winning filmmaker would make him sign without hesitation for a return to the saga. It is true that thanks to The Lord of the Rings, Orlando Bloom was able to join the Pirates of the Caribbean saga and the magnificent Kingdom of Heaven film by Sir Ridley Scott.
