Linkin Park: the new singer already causes controversy and apologizes

Seven years after the tragic death of singer Chester Bennington, the nu-metal band Linkin Park reformed around Australian singer Emily Armstrong. But quickly, a controversy began to grow, pushing the singer to apologize. We tell you everything!

Linkin Park: a more complicated return than expected

About ten days ago, the group Linkin Park launched an enigmatic countdown. Enough to cause excitement among nostalgic fans of the legendary American nu metal group. Indeed, We had been waiting for more than seven years to know the fate of the band, after the unfortunate suicide of singer Chester Bennington, who hanged himself on July 20, 2017, almost two months to the day after the suicide of his friend Chris Cornell.

This Friday, September 6, 2024, Linkin Park officially announced their return with a new single, The Emptiness Machine, announcing a new album entitled From Zero and scheduled for November 15. After a first verse sung by Mike Shinoda, guitarist, rapper and second voice of the group, the audience discovers the female voice of Emily Armstrong, in charge of the more rock and metal parts. Very effective, the first single was rather well received by the public.

However, the Internet never forgets anything, and criticism has started to fly towards the singer. Accused of having supported the actor Danny Materston, during his trial for sexual assault, she was questioned by the drummer Cedric Bixler-Zavala: “Do your fans know Danny Materston? Your rapist friend.” The new singer of Linkin Park published a story on her Instagram page, in order to respond to the controversy.

Several years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend in a court appearance, and I went to an early hearing as an observer. Some time later, I realized that I shouldn't have. I always try to see the good in people and I misjudged him. I have never spoken to him since. Unimaginable details emerged and he was subsequently convicted. To put it as clearly as possible: I never condone abuse and violence against women, I empathize with the victims of these crimes.

Hopefully this message of clarification will be enough to convince the Linkin Park public. While waiting to discover the band's next album, we are dying to listen to their best album again: Meteora. Don't you agree? Then tell us what is the best Linkin Park album according to you in the comments section.
