The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has registered a patent for an LG smartphone, issued on October 8, 2024. This is reported by the publication MSPowerUser.
Description patent talks about a smartphone with a screen that folds into a tube. It will be recalled that earlier LG was already working on the Rollable project, but its screen was deformed during folding. A new patent hints that LG engineers have solved this problem.
A magnetic substrate has been added under the smartphone's flexible display, which smoothes the screen every time it is folded and unfolded.
