Apple has warned of a new way for scammers to get hold of your data. Cybercriminals are sending emails on behalf of the company stating that your Apple ID has been suspended and that it needs to be urgently restored. This is reported by TechRadar.
The emails, which are designed to look as believable as possible, using Apple logos, colors, and fonts, offer a quick solution: follow a link that leads to a fake login screen.
If you enter your username and password there, hackers will steal your credentials and potentially gain access to your Apple account.
Apple asks for caution and reminds you that with the releases of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and watchOS 11, Apple ID has been renamed to Apple Account, so it is important to pay attention to such details in the text.
In addition, the company generally does not sends similar messages, and in rare cases writes exclusively from e-mails ending in @email.apple.com.
A few years ago, Apple added Lockdown Mode to iOS to protect the iPhone. This is an increased protection mode that is used if a person believes that he has become a victim of targeted surveillance, or his phone is infected with malware. Apple even offered hackers a record reward for breaking this mode.
A recent study showed that the iPhone is the least popular gift for the New Year and winter holidays. The clear leader was the Apple Watch smartwatch, and tablets are in second place in popularity.
