Kentucky Fried Chicken is an American chain of fast food restaurants specializing in chicken dishes. It was founded in 1952 by Garland Sanders.
KFC opened another restaurant, which became the 30,000th establishment of the chain. This is reported by the Nation's Restaurant News site.
As the publication notes, on average, KFC opens a new restaurant every 3.5 hours. The anniversary location opened in Rome.
The opening of our 30,000th restaurant is a testament to the support of our local business partners, employees and customers over the past almost 75 years, said Sabir Sami, CEO KFC Global, in a statement. Although we are a global brand, we strive to meet the unique needs and expectations of our guests at a local level, creating menus that resonate with the local culture and tastes of each community. This also includes serving local communities through our food donations and training programs that operate in many of our markets, including Italy.
In 2023, KFC opened nearly 27,000 restaurants in 96 countries, a growth rate of 10% and set a brand record. KFC accounts for almost 50% of the operating growth of the parent company Yum Brands.
For comparison, the chain of McDonald's restaurants is more than 40 thousand.
