Jolanta Kwaśniewska served as First Lady for two terms. She never hid the fact that this was not an easy task. Her every move, especially during official events, was closely watched and assessed. Although today Kwaśniewska is considered an icon of style and good taste, at first she had problems even with such simple things as clothes.

„Jolanta Kwaśniewska also had nothing at the very beginning. She borrowed dresses for official meetings from her sister because she had nothing. She only had what she brought from Wilanów in her wardrobe– she revealed in an interview with „Onet” Dominika Długosz, author of the book „Secrets of the Presidential Palace”.

Długosz also referred to the former first lady's blunder, which was long discussed by the media. This is about the gaffe that occurred during Jolanta Kwaśniewska's meeting with Queen Elizabeth II during the British monarch's visit to Poland.

Jolanta Kwaśniewska made a mistake

During the aforementioned meeting, Jolanta Kwaśniewska wore a skirt whose length was against the etiquette. According to it, the skirt should reach below the knees, but instead it ended before them.

Długosz recalled that similar fashion choices at the beginning of her presidency earned Jolanta Kwaśniewska the nickname „Shazza”. This was due to the fact that „the early first lady had a similar hairstyle, tan, and similar outfits to the disco polo star. „She didn't know how to do it either– Długosz explained.
