Harsh words were spoken!!!
The upcoming 33rd finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is a time of intense work for Jerzy Owsiak, president of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, but also a time of struggle with hate that has accompanied him for years. Due to illness, Owsiak was unable to attend the press conference before the final, but his letter read during the event touched on both the organization of the fundraiser and the problems the foundation is facing.
In his letter, Jerzy Owsiak referred to difficult moments from a few years ago, when TVP broadcast materials that, as he stated, presented him in a false light.
& “It would seem that when a few years ago the television made me out of plasticine stealing money from a fundraiser, it would be impossible to come up with a greater meanness. After several years of legal battle, all those who designed, published and announced this program were punished” – wrote Owsiak.
He emphasized that despite winning lawsuits and official verdicts, the atmosphere of hate surrounding WOŚP does not subside. Recently, the foundation became the target of games from a 71-year-old man, which – as Owsiak noted – were shocking for his team.
– “Meanness knows no bounds” – he commented, at the same time thanking the police for their quick reaction in this matter.
Owsiak also shared behind-the-scenes preparations for the WOŚP finale. The organization of this event requires the involvement of about 70 foundation employees for three months.
– “Throughout this time we have been working intensively, implementing what we had previously planned: purchasing medical equipment, conducting medical programs and monitoring these programs. In addition, there is a huge amount of work on the program 'We save and teach to save'” – he emphasized.
In his letter, Owsiak also referred to the Law and Justice party, which has been in power for eight years, accusing the party of a lack of cooperation between public institutions and the foundation.
– “For eight years of PiS rule, public institutions have not cooperated with WOŚP, with a few exceptions. I hope that this state of affairs will change,” he wrote.
He emphasized that this year's finale is particularly important because it is to be a manifestation of the values represented by WOŚP – solidarity, help and opposition to hate.
– “This Sunday will be more important to us than ever before. To say with one voice what values are important to us and how much we want to oppose organized hate with our actions” – added Owsiak.
Jerzy Owsiak ended his letter by thanking everyone involved in WOŚP – both volunteers and donors. He expressed hope that the foundation will still be able to continue its activities, regardless of the difficulties it encounters.
33. The Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity will take place on Sunday, January 26, and its goal is to raise funds for medical equipment and support for the healthcare system in Poland. The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity has been a source of both admiration and controversy for years, but one thing remains the same – millions of Poles get involved in this unique initiative every year.
