Engineers from Japan at CES 2025 in Las Vegas presented a revolutionary spherical drone HAGAMOSphere with the unique ability to move in any direction without tilting. The drone received the prestigious CES Innovation Award 2025 Honoree, reports Interesting Engineering.
The innovative drone has a special design: eight propellers placed on a cubic frame inside the sphere. Thanks to a special balancing algorithm, the drone is not only capable of omnidirectional movement in the air, but also can roll on the surface.
Leading industry experts participated in the development of HAGAMOSphere: the chemical company DIC Group provided materials and conducted flight simulations, Professor Masashi Miwa from the University of Tokyo provided expertise, and Hishida R&D carried out field tests of the device.
The project is implemented within the framework of DIC's Direct to Society» initiative, aimed at creating innovative solutions for society. Visitors to CES 2025 will be able to see HAGAMOSphere with their own eyes at the DIC booth in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (South Hall 3−40 726).
