In line with his previous announcements, Szymon Hołownia has set the presidential election date for May 18, 2025. A possible second round of elections, which polls indicate will be necessary, will be held on June 1. The resolution of the Marshal of the Sejm was sent to the head of the National Electoral Commission, as well as to Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

According to a post posted by Hołownia on social media, the government will publish it in the Journal of Laws today.

“As announced – at the first constitutionally possible date. I have just sent the resolution to the chairman of the National Electoral Commission and the Prime Minister. The government is to publish it in the Journal of Laws today. The election campaign is starting,” Hołownia wrote.

Who will run in the presidential elections?

Ten candidates have declared their willingness to run in the elections so far. Magdalena Biejat, Katarzyna Cichos, Szymon Hołownia, Marek Jakubiak, Sławomir Mentzen, Karol Nawrocki, Piotr Szumilewicz, Rafał Trzaskowski, Marek Woch and Adrian Zandberg want to fight for the Presidential Palace.

The polls conducted so far indicate that Rafał Trzaskowski has the greatest chance of winning the first round. Current research indicates that he would advance to the second round together with Karol Nawrocki. In third place is Sławomir Mentzen.

Candidates' applications will be accepted until April 4. Each of them must collect at least 100 thousand. signatures under his candidacy.
