It became known when the Pixel 10a and Pixel 11 smartphones will be released: what chips they will get

Google is already working on four Pixel 11 series devices, journalists have learned their code names.

The next phones that Google is preparing are the Pixel 10 and 11 series, which will be equipped with a completely new Tensor G5 chip developed by the company. Android Authority writes about this.

The Pixel 11 series looks like this:

  • Pixel 11 — “cubs” or “4CS4”
  • Pixel 11 Pro — “grizzly” or “CGY4”
  • Pixel 11 Pro XL — “kodiak” or “PKK4”
  • Pixel 11 Pro Fold — “yogi” or “9YI4”

All four devices use Google's second-generation, fully proprietary mobile chip — the Tensor G6, codenamed “Malibu.” The series will launch sometime in the second half of 2026. While that's still a long way off, we already know quite a bit about what to expect from the devices thanks to leaked documents.

Google will release the Pixel 9a in the next few months. This smartphone is already in the early planning stages. The Pixel 10 series has codenames related to horses, and the Pixel 10a is no exception, with the codename “stillion” (or “STA5”).

The device is currently in the very early stages of development — According to sources, Google is currently considering the possibility of releasing a fully customized version of the Tensor G5 for mid-range smartphones, or it will equip gadgets with the Tensor G4 developed by Samsung for another year.

Tensor G5 — is a 121 sq. mm, it is significantly larger than even Apple's A18 Pro, which undoubtedly increases its cost.

If Google decides to use the older Tensor G4 model, the Pixel 10a's feature set could be significantly limited, given that many of the Pixel 10's new features will rely on the new AI and camera hardware in the Tensor G5.

The Pixel 9a already received a worse modem than the Pixel 9 series, and it looks like Google may continue that trend with the 10a.
