Israeli defense company SMARTSHOOTER has presented the latest anti-UAV system SMASH DOME, which should provide tactical protection against drones in modern security conditions. The lightweight, portable and versatile system is effective in both covert and active operations, reports Defence Blog.
The core of the system is the SMASH Hopper – a remotely controlled firing station with an assault rifle and a ballistic fire control system. It provides precise destruction of drones regardless of their model or the presence of communication. SMASH Hopper can be integrated with control systems such as ATAK for automatic detection, tracking and trajectory calculation.
The system includes an active radar and passive optical sensors that can detect drones at a distance of up to 1−2 km. This ensures constant monitoring and readiness for interception.
SMASH DOME is easily adaptable for installation on vehicles, stationary platforms or critical infrastructure facilities. SMARTSHOOTER CEO Michal Mor emphasizes that this technology is an effective response to the growing threat of drones.
The system uses the concept of «man in loop», which allows operators to monitor the situation in real-time through video surveillance channels and quickly make decisions to neutralize threats. This reduces the risk of collateral damage, which is especially important for urban areas.
SMASH DOME demonstrates SMARTSHOOTER's commitment to creating effective and cost-effective solutions for protecting troops and critical facilities from modern air threats.
