Inoxtag: the two directors of Kaizen tease an epic and moving adventure

Inoxtag's conquest of Everest will soon be visible not only on YouTube, but also in movie theaters, during a unique screening that has crashed the ticketing sites! The two directors of Kaizen – 1 year to climb Everest have proudly teased a grandiose, epic and moving documentary, the filming of which took for them too a huge challenge.

Kaizen, a challenge in front of and behind the camera

During her absence, Inès Benazzouz was missed by her fans! The videographer, who became known under the pseudonym Inoxtag, officially announced his return to YouTube in August, after a long and perilous climb of Everest. This regular of slightly crazy challenges took a 4-month break to climb the famous mountain. Surrounded by a small team, including directors and producers Basile Monnot and Samy Bouyssié, he accomplished this feat before the cameras. Indeed, his journey will be told in a documentary entitled Kaizen – 1 year to climb Everest, soon to be available on YouTube and (very briefly) in cinemas. His 8 million subscribers are eagerly awaiting to discover the behind the scenes of this adventure as dangerous as it is epic, on which Inoxtag has remained discreet. Our colleagues at HuffPost interviewed Basile Monnot and Samy Bouyssié, and the least we can say is that their comments will make you want to set off to attack Everest with Inoxtag!

[Basile Monnot] Çit remains a huge challenge, we had barely 3 months to do the editing. It was a race, we had sleepless nights! But I haven't filmed anything more grandiose than the mountain, and cinema is the best place to experience it. There is a real directorial bias to feel the danger, the happiness, the beauty with him, and in cinema, the immersion is so much greater. It goes perfectly with what we want to tell, and the images we have. But we didn't think about making it accessible to everyone, we just told an emotional journey with a strong main character. And Inox is strong in personality.

[Samy Bouyssié]  And then we are used to very cut YouTube montages, but here we brought in Quentin Eiden, who has the internet culture and the requirement of long formats for broadcasters. This allowed us to find a middle ground. In the end, it is very easy to watch, because the story is so strong that everyone can identify with it. That is why I sincerely believe that parents can watch it with younger children. We're not telling you about this documentary, we're making you experience it.

And while filming was obviously a physical challenge for everyone, Inoxtag and his team alike, Basile Monnot also talks about the emotional and spiritual aspect of this climb to the heart of the mountain:

There's also a spiritual side, because obviously eIn a year, when you discover an environment like that, you grow. When you finish this documentary, you have lived an emotional adventure.

It is not yet clear whether Kaizen – 1 year to climb Everest marks the accomplishment or failure of the challenge launched more than ;one year by Inoxtag, but the comments of the two directors are there to remind us that the most important thing is not the destination, it's the journey… See you Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on Youtube to discover this fabulous journey!
