In Ukraine, the ZOOM drone was introduced to replace the DJI Mavic: what is known about it

The ZOOM drone can conduct reconnaissance in the conditions of EW and maintain its position without GPS, the manufacturer claims.

The Ukrainian company Frontline presented at DefenceTech Valley by Brave1 the reconnaissance drone ZOOM, which in the future can become a supplement, even a replacement for the Chinese DJI Mavic drones. “Military” writes about this  with reference to the company's press release.

It is reported that ZOOM is part of an unmanned complex, which also includes a ground antenna and a control point. This UAV, like other devices of the Frontline company, is made on the basis of Hertz's own communications platform for control and video transmission.

According to the manufacturer, the operator of the ZOOM drone can conduct reconnaissance in conditions of strong radio-electronic countermeasures and store drone control. Declared flight time — 40 minutes, tactical range — up to 15 km.

“Our platform provides communication with the drone at once in two bands with PPRF on a band with a width of 225 MHz. Also, the system is configured in such a way that four times more control packets than it needs are transmitted to the drone per second. “Under the hood” the platform hides many more surprises that should give our military a real advantage on the battlefield,” — Pavlo Kosolapkin, co-founder and technical director of Frontline said.

UAV also implements the most requested function from pilots — maintaining your position without GPS. A visual navigation module is installed on board the drone, which allows you to hover over the terrain and hold a point without the help of the operator. ZOOM can “hover” at a height of 200 meters with a maximum error of 5 m, at a wind speed of more than 10 m/s.

ZOOM is currently completing codification and preparing for mass production for delivery to the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The cost of the UAV is not mentioned, but according to the portal, it will be comparable to the price of the DJI Mavic.
