In the Mykolaiv region, two teenagers set fire to a police car for money and filmed it

In the village of Yelanets in Mykolaiv Oblast, two teenagers set fire to a police car for money that an unknown person had promised them via messenger. After they sent a video report, the customer deleted the correspondence. And now the young men face up to 10 years in prison instead of the promised reward.

As Informant was told in the police press center, the incident occurred that night, November 29. The incident occurred in a parking lot near the administrative building. The car was doused with flammable liquid and set on fire. The police quickly discovered the fire and extinguished the fire, resulting in only minor damage to the vehicle.

The attackers filmed the arson as proof of the task, but after sending it, the “curator” deleted the correspondence and did not pay the promised monetary reward. According to the National Police, such videos are used by Russian propagandists to discredit the security forces of Ukraine, in particular the National Police.

Within an hour, the arsonists were identified. They turned out to be local students who received a proposal to set the arson through one of the messengers. The young men purchased fuel, planned the arson and committed the crime.

During the searches, the police seized a bottle with a flammable liquid, phones and other evidence. The arsonists were detained and reported on suspicion under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional destruction or damage to property). They face up to 10 years in prison.

The incident is being investigated by investigators from the regional police department together with criminal investigation officers, criminal analysis specialists and the Voznesensk District Prosecutor's Office. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
