In the Carpathian region, a man killed an acquaintance over a mobile phone

On December 3, a murder occurred in the Carpathian region. A 49-year-old man beat his acquaintance to death over suspicions of stealing a mobile phone.

On December 3, a 49-year-old resident of the village of Pniv, while intoxicated, decided to sort out his relationship with his acquaintance, whom he suspected of stealing a mobile phone. That day, he visited the house of the 41-year-old man, but did not find him at home. Having found out that he was visiting another villager, the suspect arrived at the place and began to demand the return of the phone. When the man refused, the aggressor began to beat him, first hitting him in the face, and then continuing the beating with metal fittings and feet.

After the beating, the victim was hospitalized, but the man died from his injuries.

The police promptly detained the suspected murderer near the scene of the incident. He had no previous convictions. He has now been charged under Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 7 to 15 years. The court will soon choose a preventive measure for the suspect – detention.

Under the procedural guidance of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a resident of Nadvirna district was notified of suspicion of intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, which caused the death of the victim (Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
