In South Korea, during inspections of polling stations for early voting on the eve of parliamentary elections, spy cameras were found in 26 locations.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Yonhap, referring to the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of South Korea.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Security checked 1,966 polling stations throughout the country. The remaining 1,599 polling stations were checked by the National Election Commission. Spy cameras were discovered in 26 locations, including locations in Seoul, Incheon, Busan, Ulsan, Daegu, Yangsan, and Gyeonggi Province.
Locations, in which cameras were found, also included premises where votes will be counted in the April parliamentary elections, or which were used for this purpose in the past.
The department emphasized that, if necessary, the National Election Commission will conduct additional checks of precincts next Thursday. The reason for the installation of the spy cameras is currently being investigated, the representative of the ministry said.
The inspection was carried out a day after the police detained a YouTube blogger on suspicion of installing spy cameras in nine polling stations, where 5 and early voting will be held on April 6, namely in the cities of Incheon and Yangsan. The man claimed that he wanted to follow the manipulations of the National Election Commission with the turnout in early voting.
