The Second Eastern District Military Court sentenced a resident of the Irkutsk region of the Russian Federation, Alexei Badmayev, to seven years in prison for donating to the «Russian Volunteer Corps» (RDK).
As reported by Ukrinform, «Nastoyaschee Vremya» reported this with reference to a statement from the court's press service.
Badmayev was convicted in a case of financing terrorism for donating to the RDK. According to the case materials, he opposed Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and was a “supporter of the ideology” of the “Freedom of Russia” legion and the RDK, which are declared terrorist in Russia. The man published comments on social networks that allegedly “promote the activities” of the “Freedom of Russia” legion, and also transferred funds to the RDK.
It is noted that the first 2.5 years Badmaev will be in prison, while the rest of the term – in a strict regime colony.
