In Poland, the District Court of Warsaw sentenced 18-year-old Canadian citizen Laken P. to 8 months in prison. He was sentenced for spying for the Russian Federation.

The court's verdict was handed down on December 20, 2024. A Canadian citizen was charged with participating in Russian intelligence activities against the Republic of Poland.
According to the prosecutor's office, after being recruited in the occupied Russian Federation Donetsk and receiving intelligence assignments and briefings via covert communication channels, he was supposed to provide Russian special services with information about the military potential of the Republic of Poland and persons serving in the Polish army.
The indictment covers the period from April 2024 to May 23, 2024.
The defendant was sentenced to eight months in prison, as well as confiscation of physical evidence in the form of a mobile phone and 3 SIM cards, which are physical evidence in the case. The man must pay court costs.
Laken P. admitted his guilt in court and provided explanations in which he described both the circumstances of establishing cooperation with the Russian side, its course, and the tasks set. The verdict is final and cannot be appealed.
