In Kharkiv, a sentence was passed on the administrator of a Facebook channel that spread Soviet narratives.

This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the prosecutor's office, the defendant is a Kharkiv resident who, back in 2019, created and administered a community on the Facebook social network, where he spread communist symbols. The man published posts dedicated to the “birthday of the Komsomol” and claimed that “Ukraine is a colony”, accompanying it with images of the USSR coat of arms. In addition, he published an image of a map of Ukraine showing the so-called “territorial gifts” of Lenin and Khrushchev, with the caption “Formation of the territory of modern Ukraine”.

The man also reposted publications by Russian propaganda media, which distorted and distorted historical facts. It is known that a few weeks before the full-scale invasion, the Kharkiv resident moved to the Russian Federation. He is currently hiding from Ukrainian justice on Russian territory. The convicted person is wanted.

The court found a 42-year-old man guilty of spreading communist symbols using the media, as well as distributing materials with public calls to take actions to change the borders of the territory and state border of Ukraine (Part 2 of Article 436-1 (as amended on 11.01.2019) and Part 1 of Article 110 (as amended on 11.06.2020) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was sentenced to nine years in prison with confiscation of property.
