In France, studying AI will become a mandatory course in the school curriculum

France is introducing mandatory courses on artificial intelligence in schools. This was announced by the Minister of Education of France, Elisabeth Bern. Starting from the new academic year, all middle and high school students will be able to study AI online, reports «Osvitoria».

This subject will become mandatory for students in the 4th and 2nd grades (analogous to the Ukrainian 8th and 10th) from September 2025.

The study of AI tools will also be offered to teachers. The course will be taught in ten modules, the online lesson will last from 30 minutes to an hour and a half, the level will depend on the student's knowledge of the subject.

Elizabeth Born also announced a competition for artificial intelligence projects that will help teachers in preparing the course, checking and evaluating homework.

The French Ministry of Education will publish a document on the ethical use of AI in schools in the spring. Teachers, parents, students and trade unions are already participating in its preparation. Teachers will be able to use AI to prepare their lessons, but will be responsible for their content.
