In assault and defensive operations, 70% of tasks can be performed by robots – military

In the operations of the Defense Forces, flying drones and ground platforms are capable of performing up to 70% of tasks.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with Ukrinform by the chief of staff of the 475th separate assault battalion «CODE 9.2» as part of the 92nd ASBR of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Mishchenko.

«In general, in assault and defensive operations, 70% of tasks can be performed by robots. This is already a reality. You can mine the roads with robots when the Russians move – destroy them as much as possible with robots. And when someone crawls up, finish them off with infantry», – he said.

According to the serviceman with the call sign Did, the unit «CODE 9.2» repeatedly planned assault operations with a large involvement of robots.

«We take a site and in a week or two (sometimes in three days) destroy everything that is in front of our infantry. So that they can enter and take positions. Another issue – holding these positions, there may not be enough people», – he said.

It is possible to transfer evacuation work, rigging (transportation of heavy, oversized equipment), transportation of BC, mining to drones.

«Currently, mining, for example, is mostly performed by engineers, but we can and will trust this to robots. Destroying the enemy – of course, this is what we effectively do from the sky and from the ground. Ground drones will still take their place», – this opinion was expressed by the battalion commander.

As Mishchenko said, in the 475th battalion, UAVs will play a significant role during assault and defensive operations.

«We believe that the future – belongs to such units. If there are pilots for strike drones in the brigade, they will also be able to work with ground platforms. We must fight with technology, that is, do everything to replace people on the battlefield with robots as much as possible», – he noted.

As reported, the 475th separate assault battalion with a reinforced UAV component as part of the 92nd OSH Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recently began to form on the basis of the «CODE 9.2» unit, which is considered one of the most effective UAV units in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The unit is participating in combat operations in the Kharkiv region and the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. During 2024, the crews of the unit destroyed almost 1.5 thousand units of enemy equipment with «Vampire» bombers.
