In today's world, fewer and fewer people read books. Statistics show that 60% of Ukrainians have not read a single book in the past year.

At the same time, famous people – Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk – constantly recommend various literature. And they don't just give advice – they manage to read dozens of books a year.

Radio Maximum shares useful tips on how to start reading more. After all, literature has a positive effect on our life, character and achievement of goals.

Here are some simple tips:

1. Alternate fiction and non-fiction.

2. Read two books in the same period of time, turning to one or the other depending on the mood.

3. Write down the names of the books you have read with references to places. So you will understand how much you read and what exactly you read. And you may suddenly want to know what interested you last year or five years ago.

4. Do not set quantitative goals. Reading is a pleasure, not a competition.

5. Don't force yourself to finish reading books you don't like. Usually twenty pages are enough to understand that this book is not written for you.

6. Make your diet diverse. Don't stick to one genre, author or topic.

7. Get a few trusted dealers. They can be sellers of bookstores whose recommendations you have come to trust and friends with whom you exchange books.

8. Always have three or four books on your shelf that you intend to read.

9. When going on a trip, take twice as many books as you think you will have time to read. Books usually end much earlier than the journey.

10. Don't wait for the right time or atmosphere to read. Read when you have to and where you have to.
