How to prepare for Radiodictator: tips to help you write it without mistakes

We will write a Radio Dictator on October 25/benzoix

Ukrainians will write a Radio Dictator of National Unity on October 25. You still have a little time to prepare for it.

There are a few key points to keep in mind as you prepare to write the National Unity Radio Dictation. They were shared by Lidia Povoroznyuk, methodologist, teacher of Ukrainian language and literature at the Educator lyceum, finalist of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine, writes “Osvitoriya.UA”.

1. Get to the heart of choosing a topic

Pay attention to the fact that dictation topics usually reflect the atmosphere of the time, current events or cultural moments. For example, the topics of previous years included reflections on history, Ukrainian music or even modern technologies. It is important to understand that the structure of the text is closely related to the topic, so analyze the possible directions in which the dictation will develop this year.

2. Training on topics of interest to you

If you start practicing on material that really excites you, such as excerpts from your favorite books or movies, the preparation process will become easier and less stressful. Choose texts that resonate with your interests to stay motivated.

4. Update your knowledge of punctuation

Use your favorite movies to learn the rules of direct and indirect speech. Record dialogues, check them with subtitles and practice different types of speech transmission in written form. This can be not only useful, but also an interesting way to repeat the rules.

5. Learn the author's style

The experience of past dictation winners suggests that knowing the author's style can be a significant advantage. This year, the author of the text is Oksana Zabuzhko, so immersing yourself in her work will allow you to better understand her logic and approach to constructing sentences.

These tips will help you prepare for Radiodictant, make the process pleasant and productive, and most importantly – promote development your literacy and understanding of the Ukrainian language at a deeper level.
