According to the data of the National Research Center “Institute of Agrarian Economy”, this year the cost of the Easter basket has increased significantly compared to last year.
For according to experts, a basket of products for the holiday table for a family of four in 2024 will cost an average of 1,652.05 hryvnias. This is 12.9% more than in 2023, writes The Page.
The price difference between the extended and basic Easter basket
It is worth noting that the difference in cost between the extended and basic Easter basket is also significant. Thus, according to the Institute, a basic Easter basket without alcohol, except for vegetables and apples, in 2024 will cost 1,422.05 hryvnias. This is 17.6% more expensive than in 2023.
Dynamics of Easter basket price growth in recent years
The conducted research showed that the cost of Easter basket increased 3.3 times from 2016 to 2024. Compared to 2020, prices have doubled. Obviously, this significant increase in the cost of the festive table affects the budget of families during the holiday season.

According to the conclusions of Yuriy Lupenko, director of the National Research Center “Institute of Agrarian Economy”, the increase in prices for the products of the traditional Easter basket is the result of military actions that led to significant economic losses. He also pointed to lower prices for some basket components such as eggs, sugar and flour, but highlighted price increases for other products, including butter, milk, yeast and raisins.
