The agreement with Germany will be the most significant bilateral agreement for the UK since the Lancaster House agreement with France in 2010, which established close military cooperation between the countries. British troops stationed in Estonia will receive new drones, radio systems and advanced technology to improve combat training within the framework of the “Asgard” project. Healy stressed that this would help make troops more agile and technologically equipped to take on much larger adversaries.

The UK will also join a new initiative to develop modern long-range missiles, along with Germany, France, Poland and Italy. These missiles will have a longer range than the Storm Shadow, which Ukraine has successfully used in attacks on Russian military facilities in Crimea and the Black Sea.
