Good news for seniors. Higher benefits will soon be transferred to their accounts. How much more will they receive

In March, seniors will see an increase in benefits due to the indexation of pensions and retirement benefits.

As the „Goniec” service reminds, higher pensions and retirement benefits will be transferred to seniors' accounts in March. All thanks to the annual March indexation of benefits. What kind of raise can they expect this year?

We have the indexation of pensions and retirement benefits ahead

Currently, the minimum pension is PLN 1,780.96 gross. To receive a benefit in this amount, you must reach the general retirement age and have a contributory and non-contributory period of 20 years for women and 25 for men.

On March 1, the amount of pensions and retirement benefits will change. This is all due to annual indexation, the purpose of which is to adjust benefits paid to seniors to price increases and general changes in economic conditions.

The amount of the March indexation will depend on the average annual inflation rate in pension households. The amount of the benefit that a senior receives at the end of February is multiplied by the aforementioned rate.

How much will the minimum pension be after indexation?

The latest announcements indicate that the indexation rate in 2025 will amount to 5.82 percent. This rate was assumed in the budget. If these assumptions prove correct, it means that the lowest retirement benefit will increase from the current PLN 1,780.96 to PLN 1,884.61.

Seniors, whose benefit currently amounts to PLN 2,500,000, can count on an increase in their retirement pension to PLN 2,645.50. As calculated by „Goniec”, seniors currently receiving PLN 3,200 will receive a benefit higher by PLN 186.24 after March 1, and seniors with a pension of PLN 4,500 will receive PLN 261.90 more.

The March indexation is just the beginning. This year, supplements in the form of a thirteenth and fourteenth pension will also be transferred to seniors' accounts. The first of the add-ons will hit senior accounts in April, the second in the second half of the year.
