Germany will give Moldova additional armored personnel carriers and anti-drone systems

Germany will provide Moldova with 14 more Piranha-3 H armored personnel carriers, as well as air defense systems to combat drones.

This was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who arrived in Moldova on May 31 for a visit, writes “Europeyska Pravda” with reference to the Moldovan publication Newsmaker.

Pistorius emphasized that Germany supports Moldova in strengthening its defense capabilities.

“I want to note that Germany, among other things, will finance the purchase of 14 more Piranha armored personnel carriers in addition to the 19 already delivered to Moldova,” – said the head of the German Defense Ministry.

“We also support you in the field of air defense, in the fight against drones. The equipment for this will most likely be delivered next year,” – he added.

Pistorius emphasized that Germany will supply air defense equipment next year specifically to combat drones.

“We are not talking about large air defense systems yet. Ukraine needs them now.” , – said the head of the German Ministry of Defense.

The day before, the Minister of Defense of Germany made an unannounced visit to Odesa, where he announced the preparation of another package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of EUR 500 million.

It will include a large the number of missiles for medium-range air defense systems Iris-T SLM and a smaller number – for shorter-range SLS systems.

On May 31, the German government officially confirmed that it allows Ukraine to use provided German weapons for strikes on military facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation.
